Choosing a Healthy Lifestyle
Living a Healthy Lifestyle comes down to the choices you make. Do I give in to my temptation and eat this or stay true to my health goals and eat that? Hang out on the couch or get up and move? In this inspirational video Carolyn Hori (The Master of Inspired Action) shed more light on how critical mindset is to healthy living and shares some amazing tips for making those important decisions.
Thank you so much hi everybody my name is Carolyn Hori and myself title is “The Master of Inspired Action” and so I inspire people through business coaching and health coaching to take the next step in your life and just move forward in achieving the direction that you want to go to achieve the life that you want to live.
I wanted to chat a little bit today about this book that I absolutely love it’s called the “Success Principles” by Jack Canfield I actually spoke about this on an event that I host every other week on facebook live but the first principle in this book which I love principle number one and I think the most important principle is take 100% responsibility for your life.
Here are some key take away(s):
- everything is our choice (including living a healthy lifestyle)
- Jim Rohn said “you must take personal responsibility you cannot change the circumstances the seasons or the wind but you can change yourself”
- Healthy Living and Mindset are choices and we have the ability to decide how we want to feel
- Make it easier on yourself by filling your fridge with healthy choices
- While it’s okay to indulge (once in a while) for the most part if you want to live a healthy life you gotta stick to the things that we know that are good for us
Things we know are good for us:
- Healthy foods
- Positive Thinking
- And surrounding ourselves with positive people
To have a great and healthy life it’s about how you react to the things that you don’t like and how quickly you can convert those into an opportunity to learn and grow. How can you change your mindset to make setbacks a positive.
To see real change it takes consistency and small changes that build into big change overtime. The difficult thing is when some people want an immediate fix. Unfortunately big changes don’t work like that. Consistency is everything, how often can you repeat the positive behavior?
There may be a misconception that healthy eating means having to deprive yourself but the goalie not deprivation. The key is to satiate yourself with healthy tasty things that you enjoy in order to have a long term impact.
If you don’t like Kale don’t eat it. If you don’t like running try something else. The important thing is that you create a lifestyle you can maintain and enjoy.
What about cravings? How do you deal with that?
I try to not indulge immediately like what you were saying I don’t go for the quick fix and then I’ll think about it and if an hour goes by and I’m still thinking about it and then another hour goes by I’m still thinking about it then maybe I’ll let my self have some or I’ll drink some water. I’ll try to distract myself in order to really see if it’s real and then if I’m still thinking about it I’ll have it.
Here’s a tip for “when you don’t feel like it”
When you’re feeling like doing nothing and you just don’t want to do anything just do one thing go out say to yourself you’re gonna put on your shoes and you’re gonna go walk for 10 minutes or you’re gonna do 10 squats or 10 deadlifts or whatever that is and then it turns out that’s what gets the endorphins going and gets the blood pumping. You end up doing more and then before you know it you walk for an hour!
You’ll feel so much better then falling into the trap of saying no because too often that is our default. The high that you get from realizing you can do anything that you set your mind to that is so powerful and that is the endorphin rush and that is what fuels us to do it again and again.
