Soul Coaching with Jen Dioguardi

In this video I chat with Certified Soul Coach Jen Dioguardi about Soul Coaching. We discuss what soul coaching is and how we all have “impostors” that we create based on our experiences in life. Jen talks about how working to regain your “authentic self” can help you accomplish your goals and live the life of your dreams.

00:04
that’s awesome um so uh hi
00:07
everybody um thanks for uh joining us
00:09
for another tuesday
00:10
in pure health 365. i’m super excited uh
00:13
this week because we have uh
00:14
jen i’m going to try to get this right
00:17
dia guardi
00:18
is that right yep you’ve got it
00:20
diagonally jenny iguardi
00:22
um and i’m i’m this is a topic i have
00:24
never
00:26
i never heard about until i met you jen
00:28
this is this is pretty cool
00:30
um and so i’m really excited to learn
00:32
more about it
00:33
um you are a soul coach right yes
00:37
excellent can you tell us a little bit
00:38
about how you got into soul coaching and
00:41
maybe a little bit about you great sure
00:44
so from a really young age
00:48
i always knew that i wanted to help
00:51
people
00:52
i had gone through some challenges when
00:54
i was younger and
00:56
what my therapist would call traumas and
00:59
um i just felt myself always wanting to
01:02
help
01:02
other people feel a little less broken
01:06
and i kind of did that you know all
01:08
throughout growing up
01:10
you know in junior high and high school
01:12
i would always kind of
01:14
um you know connect with those
01:17
that you know needed to talk or had
01:20
things going on
01:22
or you know just wanted someone to
01:24
listen to
01:25
and i just i felt a real connection and
01:28
purpose to helping people in that way
01:31
so several years ago i thought to myself
01:34
you know i’ve
01:36
this is something that i’ve always
01:37
wanted to do and i was
01:39
you know set in my day job my nine to
01:41
five had been there 15 years
01:43
but i thought you know if if i could
01:45
even do this on the side
01:46
i would love to do that to help people
01:49
and so
01:50
i just i did a google search for
01:52
certifications and becoming
01:54
you know a counselor or a therapist and
01:57
they came across
01:59
uh who is a
02:02
um celebrity life coach who talked about
02:06
soul coaching and what she calls as soul
02:09
blazing which is something that
02:11
um you know she developed over 20 years
02:14
ago
02:14
that basically takes therapy to a
02:17
spiritual level
02:19
and helps people to connect with who
02:21
they are on
02:22
on an authentic level and there were
02:25
just so many
02:26
aspects of it that really really touched
02:29
me
02:29
and that i felt
02:32
i could do you know i really had a
02:35
passion for it
02:36
so i reached out to her i think i hit
02:38
her up on every platform there possibly
02:41
is and
02:42
i didn’t think i was going to get a call
02:43
back and you know several days later
02:46
she did respond i think it was on
02:47
facebook and she said jennifer
02:50
i’ve read your story and i love you
02:53
and i love what you’re about and i’m not
02:56
taking on
02:57
any other students but i’m gonna take
03:00
you on we’re gonna do this
03:02
so we did it and it took me a year it
03:05
took me a year to dig
03:06
through my own dirt before i felt
03:09
comfortable enough
03:10
wanting to share this with other people
03:12
and after i was done
03:14
i just i felt
03:17
so differently about everything that i
03:20
had been through
03:20
everything that i had been feeling um
03:23
you know
03:23
ways that i can respond differently to
03:26
experiences
03:27
and react differently to you know things
03:30
going on in my life and
03:33
i just decided that i wanted to share
03:35
that with other people
03:36
and so it’s not something that i do
03:39
full-time
03:40
but it is something that i feel like i
03:43
kind of throw into
03:44
my daily routine i feel like i kind of
03:47
soul
03:48
coach everyone kids to you know
03:51
family and co-workers and it’s just it’s
03:53
a part of me now
03:55
and um i think once people get an idea
03:58
of um what it means they will see that
04:02
too
04:02
yeah so and that’s there’s a good place
04:05
to
04:06
maybe start too it’s kind of like what
04:08
what sorts of things when when you’re
04:10
soul coaching what sorts of things are
04:11
you helping people
04:13
um with or helping people overcome is it
04:15
just like
04:16
tons and tons of different things or
04:18
they’re pretty specified
04:19
so if you think of it this way
04:23
we’re all born authentic souls right
04:26
and we go through challenges in life
04:30
we go through experiences in life when
04:32
we’re really really young
04:34
that um make us feel things
04:38
um a little less worthy maybe or
04:41
scared um or you know
04:44
like we’re not good enough and we
04:47
then try to protect ourselves by wearing
04:50
these masks
04:52
and lisa calls these masks imposters and
04:56
there’s
04:56
eight of them there’s eight different
04:58
imposters and
05:00
we all have a dominant one or two of
05:03
those imposters
05:05
and so the whole idea of soul coaching
05:09
is to help people through you know fun
05:12
and interactive play
05:14
and journaling and breathing and singing
05:17
and meditating
05:18
um you know more interactive
05:22
ways of therapy um to really bring
05:25
these impostors out so that they don’t
05:27
feel you know
05:28
so chained and it’s really a
05:31
faster way to get people to open up you
05:34
know
05:34
because you’re acting out and all of a
05:36
sudden these imposters are coming up and
05:38
they’re thinking
05:39
whoa you know i didn’t even know i was
05:41
feeling that way
05:42
and um that’s what i love about it you
05:44
know i mean you can just
05:46
be having a conversation with someone
05:47
and you know you’re starting to dig
05:49
deeper and dig deeper and all of a
05:51
sudden they’re like
05:52
oh i didn’t realize you know
05:55
i was feeling something deeper than that
05:58
you know i was going to ask you that
05:59
question was
06:00
was that you know do we do we all know
06:02
what those things
06:03
are or are they kind of buried down deep
06:07
so um some of us do i think
06:12
um i think some of us tried to
06:15
uh deny them for instance
06:18
those imposters are you know being
06:22
a class clown you know people know that
06:24
they’re being funny
06:25
and a lot of the times you’ll find those
06:28
class clowns are really trying to hide
06:30
from something else
06:31
they either don’t feel confident with
06:34
themselves and they’re trying to
06:35
overcompensate by getting people to
06:38
laugh at other people or other things um
06:41
there’s the counselor which i found
06:43
myself in right where
06:45
to avoid um really working on yourself
06:49
you know and focusing on yourself you
06:51
focus more on
06:53
helping other people that’s one um
06:56
there’s a fixer which is kind of the
06:58
same
06:58
thing you know um the narcissist
07:02
which we all know
07:05
and there’s over thinkers there’s
07:07
philosophers
07:09
there’s the sex god and the sex
07:11
goddesses
07:13
and there’s the wounded inner child and
07:16
i know
07:16
for me my biggest most prominent
07:19
imposters was the wounded the wounded
07:22
inner child
07:23
and the counselor so
07:27
um by doing some of this work
07:30
some of this interactive work um you
07:32
know where we’re role playing
07:34
um it happened so fast um
07:38
and so my job is to really get you
07:41
to react to what i’m saying and what i’m
07:44
doing and the very first way that you
07:46
react
07:47
are those dominant imposters that come
07:50
out
07:51
so having these imposters isn’t a bad
07:54
thing
07:54
as a matter of fact we can use these
07:56
imposters at different times for our
07:59
benefit
07:59
right um and so the point is to really
08:05
think about okay what am i feeling right
08:08
now
08:09
so if someone’s coming at you right or
08:11
if someone pulls in front of you in the
08:12
parking lot and takes your parking spot
08:14
that you’ve been waiting at for you know
08:16
five minutes and it’s pouring rain and
08:18
you’ve got to run it
08:19
you know and you’re pissed how do you
08:22
react
08:22
what is the first way that you respond
08:26
do you yell at that person
08:28
do you um call them names do you
08:31
sulk and think like oh poor me well here
08:34
i go this happens to me all the time
08:36
you know um or do you try to reason with
08:39
them
08:40
you know so there’s all of these
08:41
different ways that we can react so
08:43
the the point is is to really take a
08:46
moment
08:47
take a breath and when anything happens
08:50
to us someone says something to us
08:52
or an experience or a challenge or
08:54
whatever we take a second and we say
08:56
okay
08:56
what am i feeling right now how am i
09:00
feeling
09:00
am i sad why am i mad
09:04
why um do i want to get back at them
09:08
why right what is it that we’re trying
09:10
to protect
09:11
and not what emotion do we not
09:15
want to come out because we feel like if
09:17
those emotions come out we’re going to
09:18
be
09:19
judged or we’re going to be criticized
09:21
or we’re going to
09:22
you know seem less than so those are
09:25
really important things to
09:27
consider in every situation really
09:30
yeah i i did want to ask you how the sex
09:33
god would
09:34
respond to the parking thing but forget
09:36
that
09:38
i don’t know just the class package i’ve
09:40
yet to come up on that
09:43
um but the i was going to ask you though
09:45
is this this has got to be a pretty
09:47
scary thing for some people to
09:49
to get into right because um
09:51
particularly
09:52
if you’re kind of hiding those feelings
09:54
away all of that time
09:57
and now it’s a little scary because
09:59
you’re going to start
10:00
revealing that right how how does that
10:03
i mean how do you how do you work with
10:05
people like that that are just
10:06
frightened about this
10:08
sure well first and foremost i’m not
10:11
going to work with anyone who’s not
10:12
ready
10:14
who doesn’t um who is isn’t willing to
10:17
put in the
10:18
work and isn’t willing to
10:21
kind of come face to face with that
10:22
imposter so that’s
10:24
really important and that again is not a
10:26
bad thing
10:27
you know there’s lots of ways that we
10:29
can just kind of you know talk with
10:30
people
10:31
and you know gently coach them on you
10:33
know
10:34
um what do you think this situation is
10:37
meant to teach you
10:38
right now what is it that you’re feeling
10:40
how can you respond to it differently
10:43
everybody has these imposters and so if
10:46
we go
10:47
out into our everyday with the
10:51
assumption that everyone has something
10:54
going on with them
10:56
and how they react is their imposter
10:58
it’s not who they are
10:59
on an authentic level unless they’ve
11:01
done soul blazing
11:04
but you know again that’s not very many
11:06
people and so if
11:07
every person you interact with and every
11:10
situation you encounter if you
11:13
think to yourself okay it’s not the
11:16
person that’s upsetting me or the
11:18
situation that’s upsetting me
11:21
it’s how it’s making me feel or how the
11:23
person is making me
11:24
feel and it’s not their fault there’s
11:27
something within me that i need to work
11:29
on
11:30
so if i feel less than because
11:34
some woman off the street started
11:36
calling me names
11:38
why like what has happened in my life
11:41
that makes me feel
11:42
like some stranger’s words are going to
11:46
affect me
11:46
long term you know so
11:50
it’s really just about accepting the
11:53
feelings that you’re getting
11:55
and thinking what is this meant to teach
11:57
me right now
11:59
and how can i respond in a healthy way
12:02
yeah now now how do you how do you find
12:05
that
12:06
this um you said how can you respond in
12:09
a healthy
12:10
way this these imposters and
12:13
all of this stuff that’s happened to us
12:14
in the past can
12:16
be holding us back from the life that we
12:19
want
12:19
or our our career relationships all
12:23
sorts of things right
12:24
absolutely absolutely if you
12:27
um if your wounded inner child
12:30
is your dominant imposter and every time
12:34
you go into a meeting at work
12:36
you just sit there and don’t feel
12:38
comfortable
12:39
speaking up or you know giving your
12:42
opinion
12:43
or giving your idea because you feel as
12:46
though someone’s gonna put you down
12:48
i would imagine that that’s gonna hold
12:50
you back that’s going to hold you back
12:52
from really excelling
12:54
and so if people just come to terms with
12:56
the fact that they do
12:58
have this feeling within them but it’s
13:01
not
13:01
who they are authentically and just put
13:04
it aside
13:06
and say you know what i’m gonna step up
13:09
and i’m just i’m gonna take this
13:10
challenge and they may tremble
13:13
their voices may shake right and they
13:16
may tremble when they you know get up
13:18
and say something but you know what it
13:20
takes those
13:20
baby steps in order for us to really
13:24
get past letting these imposters
13:27
completely
13:28
control our lives right right
13:31
awesome well that’s that’s great now if
13:33
somebody wanted to
13:35
do some soul coaching with you how would
13:37
they
13:38
how would they go about contacting you
13:40
they can
13:41
reach out to me i’m on facebook uh
13:43
jennifer diogorti i’m on instagram jim
13:46
dealgordi
13:47
um that’s really the best way to get a
13:50
hold of me
13:50
uh yeah i don’t have a website or
13:52
anything like that but
13:54
anyone can send me a private message and
13:56
you know let me know that this sounds
13:58
like something that
13:59
they want to hear more about and that’s
14:00
interesting and you know that’s
14:02
something that they kind of want to dive
14:03
into you know
14:04
dig a little deeper and find out what
14:06
their imposter is and
14:08
you know how they can rip off those
14:10
masks and you know
14:12
happier healthier life and just respond
14:15
you know in a more positive way
14:16
to life and people around us
14:19
and and you can do this virtually or
14:22
remotely
14:23
well i think we have to do everything
14:26
remotely now
14:27
that’s right yeah i mean it’s meant to
14:30
be in person
14:31
you know because we like to have that
14:32
one-on-one connection
14:34
i really like to sit down with people
14:36
you know face to face
14:37
you know look at them you know eye to
14:39
eye hold a hand
14:41
you know really do like that interactive
14:43
therapy together
14:44
but i think this is the way that it’s
14:47
going to be for a while so
14:49
yeah yeah yeah and is there any i’m
14:51
going to put you on the spot a little
14:53
bit here but
14:54
is there any is there any sort of
14:56
activity or anything that you could
14:57
suggest
14:58
for people that are watching this that
15:00
kind of want to
15:02
you know dabble in this a little bit on
15:04
their own um or is it really something
15:06
that you have to
15:08
you have to i understand the full thing
15:10
you’ve got to have a soul coaster sure
15:13
there right there are always things that
15:14
we can do and
15:16
um i think the most important thing is
15:18
for people to
15:20
um maybe journal what they’re feeling
15:23
when
15:23
certain things arise and i’m really
15:26
right about what it is they’re feeling
15:29
and
15:30
why they feel they’re feeling that way
15:32
and
15:33
how they can respond to this particular
15:35
person
15:36
or situation in a positive way
15:39
assuming that this other person also has
15:43
these imposters
15:44
so that was really really big for me
15:46
just sitting with my feelings
15:48
writing out how i was feeling um you
15:51
know
15:52
why i was feeling that way and how i can
15:54
respond to it
15:55
differently next time excellent that’s
15:58
great
15:59
great and um i definitely still want to
16:01
try to figure out what the sex god and
16:02
sex goddess do when
16:03
the guy takes the parking spot because
16:05
that’s really important
16:07
it is it is very important
16:11
well jen thank you so much for doing
16:12
this this has been a blast
16:14
i really appreciate you uh coming on
16:16
here it’s been a great
16:17
a great chat and hang in there because
16:19
we’ll meet backstage real quick
16:21
okay bye everybody
